Chiswick House

Chiswick, West London

Chiswick House is a 16th century Neo-Palladian villa in West London, managed by English Heritage.

Walter Lilly worked on the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust’s ambitious garden restoration project, which included the 1,300 m2 Conservatory which is a Grade I listed building.

The Conservatory, which houses many rare and old species of camellia, was totally dismantled prior to being sympathetically rebuilt with a new Canadian Douglas fir timber frame and Pilkington K Glass. It was rebuilt in the same style as the original 1930s design.

The back sheds were also extended and refurbished to form education and exhibition spaces, a small kitchen and food preparation area, offices with improved facilities for events and public use, as well as staff accommodation areas and toilets.
