The inaugural HQR Summer Ball 2016 launched to widespread industry acclaim on Saturday 25th June in the Great Room at The Grosvenor House Hotel.

Having 660 HQR colleagues exceeded all initial expectations for attendance. The guests were made up of agents, project managers, architects, interior designers, lawyers, financiers, surveyors, engineers, main contractors and specialist subcontractors, along with – unusually for an industry event – their wives, husbands and partners. This was the key factor in creating an atmosphere more akin to a private party for family and friends than an industry event.

The guests were entertained to drinks on reception, a three course dinner featuring fillet of Hereford beef, impressive magicians, a charity raffle and auction, dancing to the live 8-piece Hand Fulla Soul band and a DJ set till 1.00am.

Expectations were further exceeded by the charity auction and raffle with £54,330 being raised for and shared by The Teenage Cancer Trust and The Lighthouse Club which is outstanding.

Some quotes to summarize the evening include:

“Months of hard work and planning really paid off and it was fantastic to see so many prominent HQR companies in one room having a great time.  The inclusion of husbands, wives and partners went against the norm, but was the icing on the cake.  With a fantastic £54,000 being raised on the evening for our two chosen charities, there are 54,000 reasons to look forward to HQR 2017!” – Kelly Gower, Walter Lilly (Event Organiser)

“HQR – Haven’t Quite Recovered! A brilliant event, wonderfully organised with great people and excellent charities supported, when are we doing it again?” –  Neil Stevenson, NEJ Stevenson

“Everything was beyond excellent” – Maral Zarrinmehr, Devonshires Solicitors LLP

“I have no idea who I did not see there, but if they were not there more fool them!” – Peter Dunk, Slender Winter Partnership

“I’m in awe that you had the ambition and energy to pull off such an incredible evening” – Mandi Cleyndert, Bill Cleyndert & Co Ltd

“Congratulations on achieving the event of events!” – Jon Riley, Locker & Riley Ltd
