Set within secluded 47-acre grounds, the construction of this flagship 25,000m2 UK headquarters for UCB involves the refurbishment and remodelling of three existing buildings alongside the new build construction of a fourth.
Key to success is the creation of state-of-the-art laboratories that facilitate groundbreaking scientific research and development. These facilities will support the discovery, development, and early manufacturing and commercialisation of medicines that can transform the lives of people with severe immunological and neurological conditions.
Our work also includes the fit-out of a main reception and new 2,870m2 three-storey Collaboration Hub, a distinctive petal-shaped, cross laminated timber and glulam structure. Linked to the adjoining scientific wings via bridges, contemporary meeting space, breakout areas, and catering facilities have been designed using Activity-Based Working principles to encourage team collaboration and maximise opportunities for knowledge sharing.
Externally, a site-wide landscaping scheme aims to enhance biodiversity across the campus. A range of other sustainability measures have also been introduced to support the targeted BREEAM Very Good rating.
