Marylebone Project Commended for Design and Innovation

Our 35 Marylebone High Street project has been recognised in the Schüco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation 2019, receiving a commendation in the Small Housing Development category and the Steel Project Category.  The Awards celebrate creativity, innovation and technical skill in projects which have used Schüco window, door or façade systems.

The Marylebone High Street project incorporates a retained 1930s façade with a new build contemporary structure behind it.  It comprises 8,200 m² of mixed use floorspace over nine levels, including two levels of basement parking.  The development is geared towards modern luxury living with whole house ventilation, VRF air conditioning, integrated audio visual and lighting controls, and automatic skylights.

The project was designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, which assesses new buildings on categories relating to sustainability such as energy and carbon dioxide emissions, water and materials.  The original steel-framed windows on the main façade of the development were in poor condition and no longer met requirements for thermal performance, so they were replaced with Schüco’s  Jansen Arte steel windows with a high standard of thermal insulation.  To the rear of the building, the townhouses also use steel framed Schüco windows.  Jansen Primo steel frames were selected to create large-format windows in bespoke designs with triple glazing and lowered handles for accessibility.

The project has also been shortlisted for the Brick Awards 2019 in the Small Housing Development category.
