Walter Lilly returned to Brands Hatch for 11th year of Cyclothon racing

Hosted by sports event organiser, VU Limited, the annual Cyclothon is an amazing fundraising event that challenges cyclists across a 23-mile relay circuit at Brands Hatch. Known for its testing and ‘hilly’ features, the track puts the competitors cycling skills to the test.

Returning for our 11th year, Walter Lilly entered two teams into the competition as usual. The two teams were made up of a mix of both Walter Lilly staff and consultant colleagues from Formation Architects, KSR Architects, Price & Myers, Purcell UK, Michael Barclay Partnerships and Slender Winter Partnership.

Both teams competed in the 12-hour challenge and completed 181 laps altogether. Team A came 5th place out of 18, completing 97 laps (236 miles) in 11:56:13. Only seven laps behind Ideaworks who took 1st place. Team B followed Team A closely with 84 laps (205 miles) in 11:53:36.

Overall, Cyclothon 2022 raised an amazing £55K! So far, the money has been donated to UK charities including Missing People, Help for Heroes and Transplant UK.

Thank you and congratulations to all the cyclists that were a part of our teams. You gave a great performance and put in an amazing amount of effort. Bring on Cyclothon 2023!
