Recognising International Charity Day

Today for International Day of Charity (5th September) we are reflecting on some of the fantastic charities we have supported so far this year, and the fundraising efforts achieved by the Walter Lilly team.

All of our team have the benefit of two ‘CSR days’ per year which are afforded to all staff to enable them to undertake charitable activities and volunteering. We are incredibly proud of our staff’s efforts, as the smallest things really can make a change – whether that be lending time to volunteer, undertaking a challenge and raising money for those in need, or simply by donating to others charitable endeavours where they can.

As of June this year, we have contributed to a number of good causes, via corporate donations, staff sponsorship and site fundraising activities including:

In addition, the HQR London Summer Ball returned in 2022 following a disappointing two year break from the Pandemic. Organised by Walter Lilly on behalf of the High Quality Residential construction contingent, the evening welcomed guests from main contractors, architecture, engineering, quantity surveying, interior design, services and many specialist trade subcontractors.

The modest pre-event fundraising, made up from general donations and a portion of each table sale was quickly topped up to over £85,000 with the help of a silent and live auction, raffle and pre-dinner audience participation game on the night. All of the money raised has been donated to The Lighthouse Club, Winston’s Wish and The Graham Hughes International Charity.

We remain hugely proud that we founded this event and are honoured that we continue to organise it and get to witness such generosity from the sector in which we have established our reputation. More details of the event can be read here.

We’ve also extended our charitable endeavours in tangible form, with donations of office furniture given to Evolve Housing + Support, a charity supporting people impacted by homelessness across London. Our site teams continue to engage with their local communities to provide volunteer support where needed, foodbank supplies and any excess merchant supplies from site.

We thank everyone who has taken part in our fundraising activities so far and congratulate our staff members who have tackled their own charity endeavours this year. We look forward to continuing our charitable efforts for the remainder of 2022 and the many years to come.
