East Chemistry – Phase 2

Windlesham, Surrey

Following the successful completion of the Phase One project, Walter Lilly was re-appointed to carry out the refurbishment works for the Phase Two works to the chemistry laboratories.

The Phase Two works required the extensive first fix installation of M&E services within the interstitial void and the roof area, which includes a new air handling unit, ductwork, heating and chilled water, and medical gases. This required relocation and re-commissioning of the existing four walk-in fume cupboards and one ventilated cupboard.

Within the site, new partitions were installed to create two new laboratories and write-up area as well as a new external curtain wall. Within the two laboratories, 16 bespoke standard fume cupboards were installed in the scale laboratory. In the larger laboratory, installation included fume cupboards with two standard bench types, two ventilated cupboards and the existing relocated walk-in cupboards. The new laboratory furniture and service booms were all bespoke to the project.
