Apartment 4, Manresa Road, Chelsea

Chelsea, London

Walter Lilly completed a series of six apartments in the former King’s College Building, on Manresa Road in the heart of Kensington. This project – the final apartment – is a spectacular five bedroom residence with en-suite bathrooms and dressing rooms.

In keeping with the prestigious location, all works were carried out under exacting criteria, stipulated by the residents’ estate department and finished to the highest possible standards.

The project included the construction of an 11-metre-high living wall, a new marble-clad three-storey staircase and a glass fronted lift – all of which had to be delivered and assembled using the limited site entrance via the main road access.

It also included the installation of luxurious marble finishes to all bathrooms and main entrance areas and beautiful joinery throughout the plush duplex apartment, including the dressing rooms, bathrooms, living room and study.

A stunning feature of the refurbishment was the construction of a new floor-mounted swimming pool in the basement area, which incorporated a full height laminated 1.3 tonnes structural glass retaining wall. This was transported through the development to is final position without incident and with minimal disruption to other residents.
