Maintaining excellence

Health & safety is fundamental to the success of our business. We are committed to ensuring the well being of everyone involved in the build process. Morally and practically, it’s crucial to us that we maintain our excellent record.

Our staff receive comprehensive Health, Safety and Environmental training that is updated regularly in accordance with guidelines and the need to keep pace with evolving Legislation. Courses including scaffold inspection, fire co-ordination, asbestos awareness, CDM Regulations, various plant courses are also undertaken by the appropriate personnel.

Office based staff, who visit sites regularly, are required to undertake a CITB approved 2 day Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSTS), renewable every 5 years.

Supply Chain

Strong Relationships

Walter Lilly engages with a fully integrated supply chain.

We have built up strong relationships with all our subcontractors and suppliers.

We promote an environment of mutual trust and cooperation to achieve the best result for our employers. Before consideration for inclusion onto the supply chain all potential subcontractors must submit acceptable health and safety information and proof of financial credit worthiness, complete a prequalification questionnaire and receive a visit to their place of work.

Subcontractors or suppliers wishing to be included on our supply chain should make initial contact via our dedicated supply chain inbox;


Our responsibilities

Walter Lilly fully recognise our responsibility to manage the impact of our activities on the environment and are committed to good environmental practice. Our environmental management system is accredited to ISO 14001 and as a business, we have received a number of sustainability awards.

We have a comprehensive Environmental Policy, Environmental Management Plan, Waste Management Plan and other documents which set out the minimum standards and requirements for all our sites.

Wherever possible, we will use our influence with clients and their designers to improve the wholelife environmental performance of construction projects, to establish energy efficient and sustainable solutions. This includes the specification and procurement of certified legal and sustainable timber.

Walter Lilly continues to construct projects that incorporate high sustainability and environmental materials and technologies, this has been recognised by the award of both ‘Excellent’ and ‘Very Good’ BREEAM and Eco-Homes Ratings.

Three members of our staff have achieved their CEnv (Chartered Environmentalist) status and are amongst only 7,200 Chartered Environmental professionals in Great Britain. This qualification increases our commitment to environmental best practice and professional standards and gives weight to our expertise in this field. Several other members of staff are currently studying for their qualification, awarded by the Society for the Environment.

Walter Lilly has a team of Environmental Champions drawn from various members of staff. Their role is to promote the environment and sustainability across the company. They are currently involved in medium and long term goal setting for the Company’s environmental performance and in identifying our stakeholders’ requirements in these fields. Their research will enable Walter Lilly to review current policy and procedures, ensuring that we are able to meet the expectations of our Clients, Design Teams, Local Authorities and Subcontractors.


Ongoing support

As your project approaches handover, our dedicated Aftercare Team are on hand to aid a smooth settling in period. They will remain in place to support you after the contract has been completed, and are your principal contact should any issues arise in the future.
