Walter Lilly is a licensed training provider to the Construction Industry Training Board, and the majority of its managers are members of the Chartered Institute of Building. The company has been supporting the graduate programmes at Loughborough University for over 20 years and we are currently providing support to 11 degree students. We also have eight day release students from various London and South East universities employed at Walter Lilly.

Andrew Crispin FCIOB Managing Director

Andrew joined Walter Lilly as a trainee surveyor in 1984. Progressing through surveying and contracts management, he became divisional director of the company’s prestige projects division before taking a seat on the board as surveying director in 2001. He was appointed managing director in 2013. ...

Passionate about learning, Andrew heads-up staff training and development at the company, as well as supporting a range of initiatives to encourage young people to enter the industry. This includes a long-term sponsorship programme at Loughborough University, which is currently financing nine students to complete their degree courses. Andrew is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Constructors.

Chris Butler

Chris attended Loughborough University between 1998 and 2002 as Walter Lilly’s first sponsored student....

When Chris completed his Construction Engineering Management degree he began work as a Walter Lilly Surveyor. Chris progressed in various roles and was promoted to the board as Surveying Director in April 2015. In 2018, Chris became the new Designate Managing Director of Walter Lilly.

Chris has remained committed to sponsoring a number of students through their courses at Loughborough. He also heads-up staff training and development and encourages young people to enter the industry through day release programmes.

Duncan Beach

Commercial Director – FCIOB

Duncan entered the construction industry as a trainee surveyor in 1986, progressing to the role of commercial manager before joining Walter Lilly in 2004. He has been responsible for delivering a wide range of high-value developments in the residential and science sectors. ...

Duncan is involved in many forms of procurement, including both single and two-stage tenders, and has extensive experience across the contracting spectrum – from traditional through to design and build. In 2014, he joined the Walter Lilly board as Commercial Director and takes responsibility for all commercial aspects of the business.

Andrew Postlethwaite

Pre-Construction Director – BSc in Construction

Andrew joined Walter Lilly as a graduate management trainee in 1984. Progressing through site and contracts management, he joined the board as construction director in 2001. ...

In 2006, Andrew became Pre-construction Director, responsible for all pre-construction procurement and tendering. In 2013 he returned to his role as Construction Director leading all construction projects at the company.

Well-known in the industry for his approachability and strong focus on ensuring the success of projects for all involved, Andrew resumed the role of Pre-construction Director in 2018.

Shaun Frampton

Operations Director – FCIOB

Shaun entered the construction industry as a trainee quantity surveyor in 1986. He joined Walter Lilly as a senior surveyor in 2004, before being promoted to the role of senior managing surveyor. ...

In 2010, he accepted the role of Pre-construction Manager with responsibility for the company’s tendering, planning, supply chain and marketing activities. Shaun was promoted to the Board in 2014 as Pre-Construction Director. In 2018, Shaun returned to his commercial background taking on the role of Operations Director.

John Joyce

After joining the construction industry in 1980, John has spent over 50% of his career at Walter Lilly. Originally joining as a Site Manager, John progressed to the role of Senior Contracts Manager....

In 2018, John was appointed to the board as Operations Director and oversees the construction management discipline on site including engineering and M&E services, as well as health and safety management at Walter Lilly.

His affable nature and commitment to creating a strong team culture has ensured the successful delivery of all projects under his leadership.
