This unique property features imposing formal entertaining spaces, a swimming pool with raised floor, gymnasium, a gallery and staff accommodation. Walter Lilly was contracted to carry out extensive alterations and refurbishment. Work included the fitting out of 10 bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms and utility rooms, as well as the installation of a lift, food hoists, and extensive electrical, mechanical and audio visual systems. Attention to detail was paramount, as the design incorporated many bespoke features, including ironmongery, joinery and marble; while all finishes were of the finest quality and specified to an exacting standard.
Plasterwork throughout is of exceptionally high quality, and has won several prestigious industry awards. Original plaster features were restored from designs hand-drawn in situ and formed using intricate custom moulds, with dot and screed work employed to striking effect on the walls. Of particular note were the neo classical Lutyens ceilings and covings – in the drawing room, lobby, bedrooms and stairs – which were painstakingly reinstated to their original glory. External elements include a new portico and two new entrance kiosks adjacent to the main entrance gates, as well as extensive landscaping and creation of terraced areas.
