Walter Lilly completed the refurbishment of this exclusive Grade II private residence in Chelsea. The property included a six-storey main house and a four-storey mews building, linked together at basement level. In total there are nine bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, four kitchens (including a professional catering kitchen), a library, gymnasium, steam room, cinema room and staff quarters.

Walter Lilly undertook the project after the initial main contractor went into receivership. Many works had already started and the client insisted on financial security as a pre-requisite to works recommencing, an attribute that is a cornerstone of Walter Lilly’s business. As such we provided reassurance, certainty and peace of mind to the client.

As the project began we assisted the design team by comprehensively surveying the existing work and then offering advice on quality, specification compliance and the work that remained to complete the project.

Externally the works comprised cleaning and restoration to the existing stone and masonry, as well as the completion of roof works and natural stone finishes to the external patio areas. New windows were also installed throughout the property.

Internally the finishes were completed to the highest standard. Bespoke features included a 7.5m long vanity unit made from pure white Thassos marble; a wine cellar with a changing colour back lit wall and a stunningly beautiful copper staircase balustrade.
