Knightsbridge, City of Westminster
Originally constructed in the early 19th century and inter-connecting on various levels each building comprises basement, ground and five upper levels, with stucco fronts, slate mansard roofs and projecting Doric porches. The Portland stone façade will also be cleaned and repaired. The existing roofs will be adjusted to create double height living rooms, and roof terraces with sliding glass canopies will be added. Media rooms with sound proofing will be created and a new stone cantilever staircase installed. The three existing lift shafts will be modified and new lifts installed. One of the houses will also accommodate a swimming pool and jacuzzi. A new build element will be added to the terrace and will contain additional accommodation. The project will include an underground car stacking system for 22 cars created in an 11m deep basement over three storeys, and underground plant facilities.
