University College London Completion
![]() | Our first project for University College London has been completed. The Grade II Listed academic and research building for the Department of Science for Human Communication has been extended and refurbished. The building is on a tight urban site that incorporated difficult access for plant and materials. The excavation of the atrium was undertaken largely by hand and the spoil removed via a conveyor system from a nearby window with the new construction materials being transported the same way. The complicated building has a stainless steel roof and provides two lecture theatres including full AV systems and under-seat plenum air conditioning, a library with scanning and security systems, communal areas, audiometric testing booths and a Faraday Cage. The team were Mace, AEM / Wilson Mason; Gardiner & Theobald; Carter Clack / Michael Barclay Partnership; Hoare Lea and The Richard Stephens Partnership. | |
