The recent Topping Out at Walter Lilly’s Regent’s Park refurbishment and new build project marks the end of the external construction.

The ancient and traditional ceremony will see the Private Client place the last piece of stone on the portico at the front of the building. Traditionally the ceremony, dating back to Biblical times and beyond, has involved a fir tree being planted on the roof garden to mark the end of the construction period. A sacrifice was made and essential elements sprinkled on the roof - wine to bring fertility and wisdom, oil to preserve liberty and prosperity, corn to cause prosperity to ripen into abundance, and salt to preserve purity and hospitality.

In modern times a barrel of beer, shared by the Client and everyone who has worked on the construction of the project replaces the sacrifice and sprinkling.

Work has already started on the high quality finishes to this prestigious property, which is due to be completed in late Summer 2008.
