Walter Lilly staff attend Zanetti’s stone workshop
A selection of Walter Lilly staff from a range of company disciplines attended Zanetti’s latest stone workshop held on Wednesday, 26th March 2014.
Led by David Zanetti, the Company founders son, the day consisted of talks and DVD presentations on various aspects of stone materials including quarrying, production etc.
The initial presentations were then followed by a guided tour of Zanetti’s workshop and slab store where delegates were shown the process from slab to finished product, how various edge details are created and the type of machinery used.
Following lunch, the attendees took part in a practical where they polished marble samples progressively using increasingly fine scouring pads to achieve a smooth finish (see image below).
Zanetti are members of Walter Lilly’s approved supply chain and offer a complete line of products and services to the stone industry. For more details, please visit their website http://www.zanetticompany.com

We receive high praise from CCS at our residential projects in Mayfair
Walter Lilly’s latest site visit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme has awarded one of our residential projects in Mayfair an outstanding score of 41 and a Certificate Beyond Compliance.
Whilst a number of our projects regularly receive Performance Beyond Compliance certificates, we have, following this visit, received our first score of 9 with the Scheme.
We achieved four scores of 8 in Care about Appearance, Protect the Environment, Secure Everyone’s Safety and Value their Workforce respectively. We are delighted to have been awarded a score of 9 in Respect the Community. A fantastic achievement for Walter Lilly and it’s site team.
Our score of 9 is rated by the Scheme as ‘Exceptional’ – The site is at the forefront of industry best practice demonstrating the very highest level of achievement far above the minimum standards required by the Scheme’s Code and has addressed all questions on the checklist to the highest standards.
All of Walter Lilly’s sites are registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme at commencement, and more details with regard to this can be found via their website homepage, on the following link; http://www.ccscheme.org.uk

The Walter Lilly pub quiz challenge
As part of our 90th year celebrations, twelve teams of the brainiest consultants from the London construction world competed to become ‘top dog’ in a Walter Lilly pub quiz held on Thursday 1st May at The Barley Mow pub in London.
‘MC’ Andrew Crispin took the teams through nine tough question rounds and one picture round.
Our congratulations go to the ‘Herbert Heroes’ team from Tim Flynn Architects. Team members were James Howard, Elin Davies & Trevor Roche, along with Walter Lilly member Steve Edwards.
Special mention should also go to Team Bespoke who came a close second. Well done to team members Eric Bruce, Mark Eccles and Walter Lilly members Chris Bulter & Ian Harrison.
Thank you and well done to all those who took part in what was a very enjoyable evening!
